In yet another study, this time published by veterinary scientists at Cornell University in New York, it had been proved (again) that Cannabidiol (CBD Oil) increase comfort and activity in arthritic pets (dogs and cats.)

Trial results released in 2018 by Frontiers in Veterinary Science showed that only 2mg twice daily benefited pets with osteoarthritis.

Veterinary websites are united in warning against the side effects of prescription non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). These are vomiting, diarrhoea, dark stools, loss of appetite, lethargy, increased thirst and increased urinations.

As Cannabidiol is a natural supplement, it could be used for as long as necessary, but even a 0.3mg per kilogram per kg of proprietary CBD-infused oil formulation for four weeks showed significantly reduced pain and improved functional performance.

The Colorado State University’s clinical trial showed the impact of their hemp-derived Cannabidiol (CBD) product on dogs suffering with chronic pain due to osteoarthritis. The 90-day study, overseen by Dr Robin Downing, included 32 dogs suffering from chronic arthritic pain for a minimum of 3 months. The study found that the addition of full-spectrum Hemp (CBD) oil resulted in notable benefits (decreased pain scores, improvements in mobility and improved quality of life) for 94% of the study dogs.

When choosing a safe CBD product for your pet (cat/dog), ensure it contains high amounts of CBD and zero THC (THC, even in trace amounts could have negative effects on small animals.) It should also contain a leaflet with laboratory testing results.  Finally, use “full-spectrum” instead of “CBD isolate.”

A full spectrum product uses the many cannabinoids and terpenes found naturally in hemp, while a CBD isolate product contains only CBD. We believe nature knows best and using a product that more closely mirrors what nature designed is ideal.
